Everest Base Camp & Gokyo Lakes Trek via Cho La Pass (14 Days)
Overview
There's a reason trekkers keep coming back to the Khumbu, and it isn't just Everest. It's swaying suspension bridges over glacial rivers, prayer flags strung between pine trees, and Sherpa villages that have welcomed travelers for generations. We climb steadily through Namche Bazaar and Tengboche toward Base Camp itself — 5,364m, surrounded by the tumbling ice of the Khumbu Icefall. The next morning, Kala Patthar delivers what Base Camp can't: a sweeping sunrise view of Everest's summit alongside Nuptse, Lhotse, and Pumori. From there, most trekkers turn around. We don't. We cross Cho La Pass instead — a wild saddle of rock, snow, and ice at 5,420m linking the Khumbu valley to Gokyo. It's the most demanding day of the trip, and the most rewarding. On the other side waits Gokyo: a village beside lakes so blue they don't look real, framed by some of the highest peaks on Earth. We've built in a rest day here before the early climb up Gokyo Ri, where four 8,000m giants line up in a single sunrise panorama. This route asks more than a standard Base Camp trek — fewer crowds, a real sense of accomplishment at Cho La, and views few trekkers ever see in one trip. With two acclimatization days, a recovery day after the pass, and an experienced guide beside you throughout, it's built to be both ambitious and safe. Whether this is your first trek above 5,000m or your fifth, we'll be with you every step of the way.
